Kim Jon-un feels tucked away in cut off North Korea.  Vladimir Putin is a dictator set on taking over as much of the former Soviet Union as death and destruction will allow him.  Benjamin Netanyahu is evil personified, determined to see the resurrection of an ever-growing Israel while he commits genocide in his neighbouring states.

Xi Jinping holds the top three posts in China – General Secretary of the CCP, President of the PRC and Chairman of the Central Military Commission.  He has removed the time constraints on the presidency.  One could say he’s a dictator.  But the land he wants to possess outside China at the moment is Tawain, and he’s quite canny about getting what he wants.  China exports massively to the rest of the world, and if we don’t poke that hornet’s nest, he should keep his military out of our way.

But there is one person who captures the attention of the rest of the world.  Donald Trump.  His actions demonstrate his desire to be a dictator, even if he meets restrictions from courts here and there.  Sometimes a court order to prevent something works, other times Trump ignores it and goes ahead anyway.  Using tariffs is a glaring example of that.

However, clownlike as Trump may appear, he could be the most dangerous would-be dictator in the world.  He has a lot of power; the USA used to be the strongest and most influential country in the world; he has a vast military (if depleting) at his disposal.

And he is totally amoral.

If at some level he knows the difference between right and wrong, it doesn’t stop him doing what he wants.  Perhaps he can still perceive that certain actions need to be hidden under lies or distractions, so he gets away with them more easily.  I’m not sure.  I think any sense he has in that way is disappearing.

The fact that he had the east wing of the White House demolished during the night suggests he knew people wouldn’t like it.  Nevertheless, he knew they’d notice it had gone when daylight came, and that didn’t bother him.

Many psychologists and psychiatrists have diagnosed Trump as having a malignant narcissistic personality disorder.  “Over 41,000 mental health experts signed petitions in 2017 asserting he is psychologically unfit due to narcissism mixed with antisocial and paranoid traits.”  Larry Kotlikoff, 9.1.26, Substack.

I have seen Dr John Gartner, a former Johns Hopkins assistant professor, state this with confidence on the Daily Beast podcast more than once.  He also explains how Trump is clearly showing progressive signs of frontal lobe dementia, which is eroding any inhibitions.  Plus he diagnoses him with sadism.

Jonathan Lemire of the Atlantic wrote about Trump’s aging, commenting how he more often appears in front of the camera seated at the Resolute Desk rather than from behind a podium.  He was also very concerned about Trump’s social media activity.  “In December, he posted 160 times in a single night. His Truth Social account regularly features late-night barrages containing misinformation, including false claims about the 2020 election, racist content depicting the Obamas, and apocalyptic threats toward Iran.”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called Trump "an extremely sick person," while House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries termed him "unhinged." (Travis /Gettys, Raw Story, May 2026)

On an episode of “Fast Politics”, hosted by Molly Jong-Fast, Trump’s niece Mary, a psychologist, discussed her uncle’s concerning and growing habit of blurting out whatever came to his mind during speeches.  An example she gave was during Lindsey Graham’s funeral as Trump was giving a eulogy.  He added “not everybody” liked Graham.  Totally inappropriate.

Mary Trump explained that her uncle did used to be able to read the room.  When he was booed by his MAGA supporters for praising the COVID-19 vaccine he was savvy enough not to say that again.  Mary pointe out he doesn’t have the ability to do that now, that he’s losing his impulse control.”

Added to the considered expert work of many in the field of psychology, we can all see that something is very wrong with Trump, in a way that I believe makes him a threat to the US, and to the world, as President.

Start wherever you like, but I’d suggest the blowing up of small boats near Venezuela with the excuse that the people in them were drug smugglers and a threat to US citizens.  There is no way that a country with as big a military as America could not track the boats by satellite and be ready to arrest the people when it came ashore.  It would save the lives, and it would ensure the providing of evidence by seizing the drugs in the boat.

As far as I know, drug-smuggling doesn’t demand the death sentence, and certainly not without evidence and a fair trial first.

Demonstrating further Trump’s (and Hegseth’s) cruelty was the time when a boat was not fully sunk, and survivors clung to the wreckage.  It is strictly against international law to kill people in that situation.  The law demands they be rescued.

Then we must remember Trump ordered his military to capture Venezuela’s President and bring him to the US.  Proof that this was not done to change the regime lies in the fact that Trump didn’t call for the leader of the opposition to take over the post, but the deputy, the second-in-command to the President, was allowed to take over control of the country with the same ethos.

Trump shows no embarrassment about doing this, and indeed likes to boast about how much oil he is taking from Venezuela.

He’s not bothered what people think about his saying that Canada and Greenland should be absorbed into the United States of America and remains shameless in his blockading of Cuba so that supplies and oil cannot get to the people, thus causing loss of electricity, even though that threatens the lives of hospital patients having to go without monitoring, chemotherapy and the like.  Trump just doesn’t care.

In his first term Trump was impeached for preventing military aid getting to Ukraine while Russia threatened to attack again (having taken Crimea in 2014).  The threated war now rages and still Trump does little to help Ukraine.  He has often said that Ukraine shouldn’t have started the war, when the rest of the world knows that it was Russia who invaded.  He seemed to be relenting a little when he said Ukraine would be licensed to build American-designed weapons.  But then he changed his mind again before it happened.

When he ordered Iran to be attacked, he never officially declared his intentions, nor the fact that he was going to be fighting in alliance with Israel.  Israel had already proven itself capable of genocide, and that continues.  Trump doesn’t even permit criticism of the cruelty Netanyahu’s followers and troops show towards Palestinians, whether in Gaza or in the West Bank.  Nor has he apologised for the killing of children in the school the US bombed in Iran near the start of the war.  He constantly says a deal is to be made, or that it has been made and the US has won.  He has his navy block part of the Strait of Hormuz, while saying he has made Iran agree to allowing the free flow of maritime traffic there.

With no declaration of war at the beginning, there was no statement of purpose.  He has included regime change in Iran, preventing Iran being able to ever make a nuclear weapon, and keeping the Strait open.  He declares success, then that he must bomb them some more.  He says Iran has not a single plane or ship left but then attacks the country further to rid it of its war machinery.  None of what he says makes sense.  And now Trump is declaring there is no shortage of US weapons, when those in a position to know say stocks are depleting rapidly.

Put all this lack of concern for human life alongside the action of his ICE agents and Border Force, with the shooting, incidental deaths, splitting up of families and cruelty to children, and it is plain to see a very dangerous man with too much power.

Yet he has used AI to depict himself as Jesus and all sorts of superheroes.  Just this week he posted a picture of himself with others in military uniforms, showing Trump wearing the most medals.  He is in fact a draft dodger and has not spent a minute in the military.

Someone recently posted a transcript of part of one of Trump’s speeches on social media.  It is clear that the words put together in that order just do not make sense.

How can a formerly civilized country allow this man to be its head of state?

Today we learn that Trump has again helped Putin in his war against Zelensky and Ukraine, by adjusting the workings of Starlink so that missiles coming from Russia could not be detected, and therefore possibly stopped, in Ukraine.

Within the last week, Trump offered a large amount of money to Putin for refined oil, because the war he started with Iran has caused difficulty getting any through the Strait of Hormuz.  A nice bit of cash for the Russian to spend on upping his deadly attacks on his neighbour Ukraine.

Trump persistently says, or implies, that Ukraine started the war against Russia, which is completely the reverse of the truth.

Most people will have seen how Trump and his sidekicks tried to humiliate Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office during his first visit there, by spouting lies and false accusations.

If we go back further, to Trump’s first term, we find Trump being impeached because he tried, unsuccessfully, to blackmail Zelensky in 2019 by withholding military aid unless he dug up dirt on Joe Biden and his son Hunter.  Trump wanted this to help his chances of winning the 2020 election.

Trump lost the election, but he has continued to pretend he didn’t.  Lives were lost in his biggest single offence to convince his then Vice President that he mustn’t declare Biden the winner, the attack on the Capital on 6 January 2021.

What kind of person would do and say the things Trump has?

Donald J Trump is a malignant narcissist with dementia.  He is unfit to be President of the United States of America.

It is the same old story of dictators.

We no longer have kings who the people believe are ruling over them by divine right.  The world knows what democracy is and most of the world wants it.  There remains some sentimentality or superstition about kings, but it’s rare now for a king to rule on his own.  People who do that are, basically, dictators.  And dictators are rarely mentally healthy.

The US was the most powerful country in the world, most of the time with Russia snapping at its heels trying to match it in terms of technology, such as weapons and space travel.  But America’s universities were renowned, and its scientists considered at the top of their field.  Yes, some British, German and French universities were and still are prestigious.  But nowhere seemed to beat America overall.  It was the country that set trends.

Then along came Trump and not only has he messed up the country for those who live there, but it has unbalanced the rest of the world.

People now look back to Europe for safety and good standards, and to China for reasonably priced goods.

But in the West, we don’t feel China will save us from military threats by Russia, North Korea or Iran, and European countries had been lulled into a false sense of security and spent less on defence.  That was the US’s job as the largest country in NATO. The Soviet Union’s main opposition in the Cold War.  But no more.

And all because of one man who wormed his way into the White House by presenting himself to the people as a real-life version of the role he played in the Apprentice.  He wanted to win the election for the sake of winning.  I have a feeling he was never serious about the role that title involved.

He was a laughingstock around most of the world in his first term, seen as a bumbling fool with low intelligence and a nasty, selfish attitude.  His connection to Jeffrey Epstein started to work its way to the surface of public attention.

His attempts over the next four years to convince people the election had been “stolen” from him were illegal and absurd.  Yet somehow he won the election in 2024.

During his second term his inability to function as POTUS has been increasingly clear.  He is not cognitively or emotional capable of carrying out the job.

Thirty-six medical experts, including neurologists, forensic psychiatrists and geriatricians, wrote to Congress to officially declare him mentally unfit for the office of President and stating that he should be removed “with the greatest urgency” because he “presents a clear and present danger” to the US and the world. (Kassandra Rattle, 9.5.2026)

Dr John Gartner, a psychiatrist and clinical psychologist of Johns Hopkins Medical Center, has also warned of how sick Trump is, telling the Daily Beast this summer that he sees signs of 'accelerating' frontotemporal dementia, based on years of public observation.   “In 40 years of clinical practice and almost 30 years of teaching psychiatric residents, I've never encountered a patient as sick as Donald Trump…  [he] has displayed symptoms consistent with frontotemporal dementia since around 2019,” he said, insisting the “rate of deterioration is accelerating” and even suggesting “Trump is not the same man he was four weeks ago.”  (Briane Nebria, 21.6.26)

The frontotemporal part of the brain is responsible for judgement, impulse control, language and personality.  For it to be not functioning well in someone with the nuclear codes is horrifying.

John Gartner also told El Pais he has no doubt Trump “…is a malignant narcissist.”   He explained that narcissism, comprises, “Antisocial personality disorder (psychopathy) —they lie, deceive, harm others, violate the rules, and feel no remorse—paranoia—they constantly feel attacked and, therefore, seek revenge—grandiosity—their desire is to dominate and be above everyone else; ‘I am the best president in history,’ ‘nobody knows more than me about tariffs,’ etc.—and sadism: they enjoy chaos, destruction, and humiliation.” (El Pais, 2026)

The psychologist, neuroscientist and author of Gaslight Report on Substack, Frank George said, “If you manage your narcissism, you may not end up being the most generous and empathetic person, but at least you’ll have it under control.”  Explaining it is a condition you are born with, he points out that no one helped the young Trump to manage his condition.  At military school he learned that bullying worked for him.  “Becoming the most powerful person in the world did the rest, transforming him from a pathological narcissist into a malignant narcissist.”

George also agrees that Trump has frontotemporal dementia.  “Among the symptoms of FTD is confabulation, which goes beyond simply making up stories. It’s not lying; it’s believing what one says, however implausible it may seem.” Another symptom is paraphasia: having trouble saying words.  “A third symptom is insistence: how many times has he listed the wars he’s won? … FTD makes his narcissism manifest itself more starkly.”  (El Pais USA, 23.3.2026)

 

Adolf Hitler was considered to have suffered from a narcissistic personality disorder, according to Sleigh (1966), Bromberg/Small (1983). Coolidge/Davis/Segal (2007) also considered Hitler to have a sadistic personality disorder.  Add these two conditions together and it implies something similar to what Trump has, without the dementia.

In his 2011 paper, Brian Junkemeier stated on page 1 that Stalin “has been diagnosed with a malignant narcissistic personality disorder”.  Erich Fromm was notable in describing both Hitler and Stalin with the disorder.

Malignant narcissism has been used frequently by scholars to describe the leadership style and personality of Mao Zedong and Saddam Hussein.

It is harder to label the cruelty and determination to go down in the record books as a world controller while he lives, but the symptoms used to describe Putin’s psychological profile amount to malignant narcissism in my opinion.

I haven’t found sufficient evidence, or anyone brave enough to say that either Benjamin Netanyahu or Kim Jon Un are malignant narcissists.

The evidence I have read, without any in-depth knowledge of the man, do not lead me to believe Xi Jinpin is a malignant narcissist (but that’s not to say he isn’t).

Idi Amin—who ruled Uganda as president from 1971 to 1979—is frequently cited by experts as exhibiting classic traits of malignant narcissism. (Ask Gemini)

“On his 60th birthday, Saddam Hussein commissioned a Quran to be written using 27 litres of his own blood.  Idi Amin… claimed he kept the decapitated heads of his political enemies in his freezer…  Francois Duvalier, who ruled Haiti from 1957 to 1971, once ordered all black dogs on the island to be put to death under the belief that a political opponent had transformed into one.”  (Matt Davis, 23.8.2019, Big Think).   You get the gist of the sort of person we’re talking about here.  The people who think they can and should be sole ruler of a country, or even countries plural.

Matt Davis also described the illness this way:   “Where a psychopath might try to cultivate affection and esteem from others in order to further their own goals, they don’t require that affection and esteem. Where a narcissist needs the respect of others, they may not exhibit an extreme disregard for others and aggression. In between these two lies malignant narcissism, coupling both the extreme neediness of the narcissist and the psychopath’s antisocial tendencies.”  Psychologists have referred to the condition as “the most severe pathology and the root of the most vicious destructiveness and inhumanity.”

It is a testimony to the strength of the American Constitution and establishment that Trump has not been responsible for more deaths than he has, via his ICE militia, his bombing of small boats in the Caribbean, his withdrawing of aid from Ukraine, his harsh treatment of adults and children he deems should be deported, as well as his inability to control Covid 19.

But he did persuade the highest court to say he won’t be considered guilty of crimes he carries out while he is President, and the delay in court rulings over other matters (eg tariffs) that he tries to bring into law by executive order, have caused chaos and lost the taxpayers a good deal of money.

And that is to say nothing of the allegations made in the Epstein Files, such as Rep Lieu has seen and spoken about.  Trump has gone to great lengths to cover up allegations he says he is innocent of, and those relating to his friends, too.

Every day that Trump speaks publicly or tweets on his own social media he lies.  He doesn’t care.  And nobody is doing enough to stop him.

He is deteriorating rapidly.  How near to being like Hitler or Stalin does he have to be before he is taken into a safe hospital and the 25^th Amendment triggered?

The world can but hope that next month will see Democrats voted into both the House and the Senate, and eventually (after January 2027) the representatives will do what is necessary.
